Make Your AI Receptionist Multilingual in Two Steps

Yobi Team
Yobi Team

A patient calls and starts in Spanish. Your agent answers in Spanish. Halfway through they switch to English, and the agent switches with them, mid conversation, without missing a beat.

No phone menu. No "press two for Spanish." It just follows the caller.

Two steps

1. Turn on the multi-language feature

Go to your agent's Voice page, select the multi-language feature, and save.

2. Tell the agent it is multilingual

Go to the instructions page and add one line. Here is the exact prompt:

You are multilingual. Respond to the caller in the same language they speak, including English, Spanish, Hindi. Change languages whenever the caller does.

The toggle gives the agent the capability. The instruction line tells it when to use it. You need both. This is the same pattern from the rest of this series: the setting alone is not enough, the agent has to be told what to do with it.

Why mid-call switching matters

Most multilingual phone systems make the caller choose a language up front and then lock them into it. Real conversations do not work that way. People switch when they hit a word they do not know, or when a family member takes over the call, or simply because they are more comfortable explaining symptoms in one language and giving their address in another.

Following the caller instead of forcing a choice is what makes it feel like talking to a person.

Adjust the language list to your patients

The prompt above lists English, Spanish and Hindi as an example. Replace those with the languages your Teams actually hear. It costs you one line of text and it decides whether a whole segment of your callers gets a good experience or a frustrating one.

Get Started

Every setting in this walkthrough lives in AI Studio inside your Yobi account. It takes a few minutes and your agent keeps the change on every call after that.

Say Hi! if you want the Yobi Team to walk through your instructions with you.
